What are the Darkest Manga You Have Read?

What are the darkest, most chilling manga that you have read or at least looked into?

A couple of mine would be Berserk and Ichi the Killer.

The few people I've heard talk about Battle Royale swear by It. I'll add it to my list.

definitely Berserk! pretty awesome though!

I should probably read Berserk too. I feel like it's a must read.

I haven't read many dark manga myself. You should check out Battle Royal though. I've only read the first volume but it's already really good.

Off the top of my head: Berserk, Monster, 20th Century Boys.

I tend to dislike dark manga. I get attached to characters, so seeing them die (usually in a brutal and/or messed up fashion) really pisses me off. Call me immature, but i like seeing the hero win lol.

The only exceptions for me would be HxH and Tokyo Ghoul (if you could call those dark)

I read Ichi the Killer. It was honestly pure trash in my opinion. But the art was quite good.

Oh, i just remembered. I've also read Deadman Wonderland. Great manga, but too short imo

Dorohedoro. Its fucked up.

Higurashi When They Cry can get pretty dark.

Vinland Saga can get pretty dark, too.

Not a big fan of dark manga I tend to stay away from it same with dark anime. But from what my friend has told me about Berserk it is pretty fucked up.

Those are my top picks, the only other ones would be Homunculus which is by the same person who wrote Ichi The Killer... so it's a bit trippy. Basically a homeless man meets this tranny who wants to practice trepanation on him. Which allows him to see the world for how it really is. This one is a bit of a mindfuck and will definitely leave you with something to think about.

Then another manga I can't remember the name, but it was about this kid who beats up the wrong guy with his gang of friends then receives a text message from the crossdressing Yakuza guy and is forced to join their organization, I don't remember much except there was a girl who was a crazy masochist and got turned on from being burnt and having her teeth pulled. They basically take on contracts to do anything for a certain amount of money. I thinkSpeedforce spider knows what I'm talking about.

Awesome titles listed here most I've heard of but haven't had a chance to read but I will:)

Just finish reading the first volume of Berserk. I can tell it's just gonna get more dark.
Lots of gore in it.

Gantz and TerraforMars. TerraforMars is rapidly becoming one of my favorites. Elfen Lied is another very good manga. A lot of blood but at the same time an attempt to be normal, with a love story thrown in as well.
